A patient with conventional osteosarcoma of the distal femur underwent reconstruction with a megaprosthesis after wide resection involving the vastus medialis, intermedius, and lateralis muscles. Skin necrosis developed, but the megaprosthesis was not covered by muscle, resulting in deep infection.
