EDP Sciences initiate “Pay What You Want” for article processing charges of Open Access Journal

EDP Sciences are one of the first publishers to initiate the “Pay What You Want” (PWYW) model for article processing charges (APCs) of Open Access Journals, where authors choose to pay their own fair price to publish their research.
SICOT-J, and a multidisciplinary journal covering the fields of surgery and engineering (to be announced and launched at the beginning of 2016) will use this model for APC payments from 1 January 2016. We will also introduce PWYW for other journals during the year.
All articles will still undergo rigorous peer-review, and receive the same exposure as any other article published by EDP Sciences, and importantly will be compliant with the mandates of agencies funding research and open access publication.
